UPDATE: Maisy has come so far in such a short time! She is now completely housebroken and does great with the cats! She has gained weight so you no longer see her ribs and all her fur has grown back so that she now has a beautiful glossy coat. She loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home and is very happy to snuggle on the couch next to a human or another dog. She has mastered the art of the afternoon nap! And the late morning nap, too. She does so well with everyone in the house and would make a wonderful companion to humans and dogs!
Do you find puppies tedious and exhausting? Want a dog but don't want to deal with the hassles of crate training, leash training or midnight potty breaks? Then have we got the dog for you! Meet Maisy! Maisy was a stray who ended up in a Carolina shelter. Since coming to her foster home she has been nothing but a sweetheart. She is great with people, children and other dogs. She's a little too excitable around cats, so for the cats sake would do best in a home without them. She walks great on a leash, especially for a hound, and is happy to stay in her crate during the day and at night time. The only time she howls is when we're getting her food ready because she is so excited to eat. She could probably give Joey Chestnut a run for his money! Maisy's only challenge to an otherwise perfect dog is that she is still having some issues with house breaking. This isn't surprising considering she was likely a stray for some time and then spent about a month in a shelter. But she is treat motivated and with a new home with a little patience and consistency will greatly improve! We do believe that Maisy would be most successful in a home with another dog!

Please keep in mind there are many factors to consider when choosing the right match for a dog, so an application cannot guarantee adoption. Nor do we work on a "first come first served" basis, but rather strive to find the best match for the personality of each dog. As part of our adoption process, references both personal and veterinarian will be checked. Sadie's also requires a home visit before we adopt any of our dogs out; therefore we only adopt to our local WNY region. Please only apply if you are serious about adopting as placing each foster dog in the best home takes time and effort by our volunteers.
