Meet Nigel ❤️

Nigel is a 1 year old Beagle Chihuahua mix (best guess)

He came to Buffalo from a North Carolina shelter and before his arrival he did not have an easy life.

Nigel was found as a stray. He suffered a corneal ulcer and had to have his right eye removed. He was adopted out and returned back to the shelter within a month.

Nigel is slow to trust humans. And when we say slow we mean VERY VERY slow. He will take MONTHS to settle in. He will need patient adopters who can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And trust us, he has so much light waiting to shine.

It took him over a month to come out of hiding at his foster home. Now after 3 months he co exists with his foster parents but still does not love to be touched. He does not bite, he just scurry’s away or reluctantly accepts the love.

Nigel absolutely LOVES his canine foster siblings. He plays with them constantly, snuggles with them, and licks them to death. He also regularly attends doggy day care where he plays all day long. He is most comfortable surrounded by his own kind.

Nigel will need a home with other dogs to help him learn the ropes. (He is also cat friendly!) A playful & confident dog would be a perfect big sibling for him.

Being as skittish as he is, Nigel is a huge flight risk. He requires a fenced in yard AND a tie out. He must use a martingale collar as he can slip out of regular collars and harnesses.

Nigel sounds like a full time job but the truth is you won’t even know he’s there until he wants you to.

He will melt your heart with his late night zoomies and his passion for cheese.

Nigel is potty trained and crate trained. He finally moves inside to outside and to his crate willingly. For a while his foster mom had to move him around on a slip lead.

Nigel’s foster parents feel that the most stress free way for potential adopters to meet him is at his foster home where he is most comfortable. They are located in the City of Tonawanda.

If you are interested in giving this sweet baby the life he deserves, please apply today at www.sadiesrescue.org

Please keep in mind there are many factors to consider when choosing the right match for a dog, so an application cannot guarantee adoption. Nor do we work on a "first come first served" basis, but rather strive to find the best match for the personality of each dog. As part of our adoption process, references both personal and veterinarian will be checked. Sadie's also requires a home visit before we adopt any of our dogs out; therefore we only adopt to our local WNY region. Please only apply if you are serious about adopting as placing each foster dog in the best home takes time and effort by our volunteers.
