Meet Tod! (Aka Tater Tod, Scooter Pie, Scoots Magoots, etc.) Tod is the sassiest little disabled dog to ever exist, and his broken back doesn’t slow him down one bit! He loves more than anything to play with his canine foster siblings and scoot around the house like a mad man. He is approximately 1 year old and could possibly be a Jack Russel Chihuahua mix. Tod likes to tell it like it is, barks at you if you aren’t paying attention to him, and follows you everywhere, unless he is playing with another dog. He loves to hoard his toys and will steal your shoes in a heartbeat. Tod is much faster than he looks and escapes easily, so he needs to be monitored outside.

About Tod’s disability: Tod was found dragging his legs on the street in Texas. After x-rays, it was determined that his back was broken in one place, causing the paralysis. Tod is currently in diapers, and likely will be for his entire life. He currently only wears them when he is inside and around the house, because if he wears them too long he gets a rash. Tod sleeps in and spends some time in his crate daily, with a pee pad underneath him and no diaper on. His foster mom does his laundry regularly since he “leaks” most of the time. Tod does have some movement in his legs, and he seems to be making some progress. It is unlikely that he will ever walk like a normal dog, but he is gaining some muscle back and uses his back legs to hop when outside or on the carpet. Inside, he typically scoots around due to the muscle he has built up in his front half of his body. Tater Tod will need a very specific home, with someone that is willing to work with him to gain back some of his muscle and be patient with his everyday needs. As a small dog, he will likely live a long time, so please keep that in mind when applying.

Apply today at www.sadiesrescue.org  Tod's adoption fee is $300.

Tod is a special dog and he is looking for a special home, Sadie's will be very particular when finding him his forever home.

Please keep in mind there are many factors to consider when choosing the right match for a dog, so an application cannot guarantee adoption. Nor do we work on a "first come first served" basis, but rather strive to find the best match for the personality of each dog.

As part of our adoption process, references both personal and veterinarian will be checked. Sadie's also requires a home visit before we adopt any of our dogs out; therefore we only adopt to our local WNY region.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting as placing each foster dog in the best home takes time and effort by our volunteers.
